Never regret, if it’s good, it’s wonderful. If it’s bad, its experience.
How much do I love this quote? Answer – a lot!
It honestly reminds me that I have to put everything in perspective. It also helps me stay grateful and hopeful when things feel hard, unfair, or impossible!
“If it’s good, it’s wonderful” – I don’t know about you, but I never regret anything that happens that turns out to be awesome. Obviously.
Found parking – heck yeah! Promotion – wahoo! Met the love of your life – swoon & hallelujah!
There are no questions otherwise.
I dont know about you, but I have never once yelled at the sky “Why God?” when something great has happened to me.
We generally dont dissect & analyze what we did to “deserve” the blessings – the good parking spot, the promotion, the soulmate. No! Of course not! We embrace it, accept it, we are (hopefully) grateful & we move forward with this goodness. End of story!
But the bad stuff …. Wooof it’s a whole other story, isn’t it?
The “bad stuff” is SO easy to regret, ruminate, and overanalyze – it can even cultivate bitterness & resentment.
If someone steals your parking spot, screw them! Didnt get the promotion – this isn’t justified! Love life is disappointing – it’s them, it’s me, it’s unfair!
“Why God” has entered the chat …
Why do we embrace the blessings but question the burdens?
Here’s the thing … and it’s a tough pill to swallow…, but if you accept the good, you can’t disown the bad.
They are two sides to the same coin of your life.
You are going to have amazing wonderful things happen to you!
You are also going to have horrible, painful things happen to you.
That is how life works.
Learn to accept them both, because that is what it’s all about. Joy and peace come from the awareness that the bad things aren’t happening TO you to simply make your life miserable. There are lessons in the pain. There are things to gain from the struggle. The experiences of going through the mud and making it through the other side are sometimes the most important and impactful you will ever know!
If it’s good, it’s wonderful. If it’s bad, it’s experience.
God never promised us it was going to be easy – he just promised that it would be worth it.
If life is hard, I want to encourage you to consider what you can take from the hardship. A kinder heart, a wiser mind, a more resilient nature, a more humble spirit. The experiences during the painful seasons are what shape us and mold us into the best version of ourselves.
My prayer for you this week is that you embrace the possibility that good things can come from your struggle. God is the God of love, peace, joy, hope, and fulfillment. While he might be allowing this pain to be in your life, he has allowed it for a reason and it’s not your whole story! If it’s good, it’s wonderful. If it’s bad, it’s experience.
XO
