Through God's grace, we find strength. I'm here to share my grief, lessons, and how I'm rediscovering hope, joy, and purpose through faith. I'm glad you're here.
“Faith is deliberate confidence in the character of God whose ways you may not understand at the time” – Oswald Chambers.
This is one of my favorite quotes of all time – and I just stumbled across it a few weeks ago.
What gets me about this quote is the word choice “deliberate confidence”.
Being deliberate implies intention – “Intentional confidence”
Faith is an intentional belief – It’s not an impulse. It’s not second nature, it’s not accidental.
It’s deliberate. Conscious. Purposeful.
Having deliberate confidence in God means …
Despite –
Regardless –
Even though –
NO MATTER WHAT is happening or how bad it may seem, we will trust in the Character of God over our current doubts, fears, and circumstances, because we know that his plan is greater than anything we can understand. (and that’s a good thing. Amen!)
You are actively participating in your relationship with God and choosing to put your faith in him, even though you dont understand. How incredible is that? How awesome and rewarding and empowering is it to know you are making a choice, each and every day, to put faith in God over everything else.
And not just God, but the CHARACTER of God.
His character defines the way he thinks, feels, and behaves!
God is love.
God is good.
God is holy.
God is mercy
So despite what you are going through, regardless of the pain or hurt you are battling, even though things are not what you want or how you want them – you show up with a DELIBERATE confidence in the love, goodness, holiness & mercy of God – that even though you don’t understand, you trust that one day it will all make sense and his love, goodness, holiness, and mercy will be known to you.
I don’t know about you, but I want that kind of faith!
My prayer for you today is that you wake up with a desire to be intentionally faithful in who God is. Despite! Regardless! Even though! We aren’t going to always understand, but we know we can be confident in Him – and at the end of the day, that’s all we need!
