Through God's grace, we find strength. I'm here to share my grief, lessons, and how I'm rediscovering hope, joy, and purpose through faith. I'm glad you're here.
My new favorite life mantra is “Be comfortable being uncomfortable” and I think this is comparable to what this quote was trying to convey.
A docked ship is just that – a docked ship. It does nothing. The boat has no purpose on the shore. A ship is built for the sea! It’s built to sail the world’s grandest oceans. It’s built to charter unchartered territory. It’s built to MOVE! DO! EXPLORE!
Staying on the shore is not fulfilling the purpose the builder intended. Sure, its safe, but its meant for so much more.
You know we’re all the ship, right? God made us for amazing, wonderful, exciting, fabulous, thrilling things! He made us to accomplish all his plans for our lives. The question is, are we fulfilling our purpose or are we allowing ourselves to stay docked at the shore …
Can you relate to this at all?
I sure do – In SO many ways.
I am not known for being a risk-taker. I’ve never been impulsive or adventurous.
I have multiple planners (literally. I have 3). I overthink and over-prepare for every possible scenario in a given situation. I have lived my life like a ship at shore.
Safe. Protected. In control of all the elements.
But also knowing deep down that I need to set sail …
I am made for more.
You are made for more.
What are you avoiding because you’re afraid to leave the docks?
Being on Instagram & putting out my blog – as much as I love meeting new people and sharing hopeful messages of grace and redemption – this is all very uncomfortable for me. Exposing my pain, my failures, and my limitations is tough!
But shortly after my mom passed away, I had such a strong feeling that God wanted me to share my journey to help others. So despite myself and every instinct to stay anonymous and private, here I am. Showing up how I believe God wants me to show up. I am untying that rope and setting sail into unchartered territories. I have no idea what I’m doing and oddly enough, I think that’s the point of it all – I finally let go of everything I was holding on so tightly to – all the things I THOUGHT I needed – and just trusted God.
And can I admit something I never thought possible – it’s not as scary and horrible as I thought it was going to be! It’s not easy breezy super fun times yet, but turns out that stepping out in faith into what God has planned for you is quite liberating, incredible, and joyful!
My prayer for you today is that you untie those ropes that are keeping you close to land and you decide to set sail. It is going to be hard at first, it’s going to be uncomfortable and intimidating and feel all-sorts-of-wrong, but how do you know where you can go, if you don’t take those first steps?! Lean into those dreams you’ve been feeling are too big, too crazy, or too impossible, because nothing is impossible with our God. You are meant to sail my friends so let go of all those thoughts keeping you at shore – that’s not what you were built for.
Have a story to share, a question that lingers, or need a little guidance? Reach out to us. Your journey is personal, but you don’t have to walk it alone. Send a message and let's take the first step together.
Thank you for reaching out.
I will be in touch soon!
love
I'd to hear from you
