For what it’s worth, it’s never too late to be whoever you want to be. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you find you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start over again – F. Scott Fitzgerald
Wise words, but woof! It feels like such a daunting and impossible feat, doesn’t it?!
Like not only am I acknowledging that I am not who I want to be, but I also have to find the strength, determination, tenacity, and resources to find a way to BE who I want to be …
Ok F. Scott
Dude, do you get how hard it is? Do you understand all of the challenges, obligations, demands, and requirements it takes just to exist “As is”, let alone find a way to ‘start over again”?
This is a hard sentiment for me to swallow, I’m not going to lie.
Here are some things that are simultaneously true:
I agree with F. Scott
I wonder how realistic this advice is for most of us.
I wish all of this was easy and life just went exactly how I planned it.
I believe that God doesn’t care about how unrealistic or unattainable these goals might be.
I know that NOTHING is impossible for our God! We serve a God that does the unthinkable – so if you find yourself starting over, or chasing a dream that shouldn’t be attainable, if your path is meant to be, there is nothing standing in your way!
If you have suffered a loss – family, job, marriage, etc. – you are probably already painfully aware that you have to start much of your life over again. And we didn’t get any other options! Your identity & future were so intertwined with whatever is gone – you don’t have a choice but to begin again. I’m right there with you and it’s been quite the journey.
For me? I’ve been forced to practically start all over halfway through my life. It’s daunting, it’s scary, it’s confusing and I’m not going to pretend it’s not. I was supposed to be “settled” by now, but instead, I have to create a new life. New family, new future, new normal.
F. Scott says that we need to find the strength to start over, but here is the good news – as followers of Christ, we know we don’t have to find anything. The answer is already inside us because its always been in him! What is meant to be for you, will be. Jesus is your source of strength & peace.
My prayer for you is that you trust that your heavenly Father knows what is best for you and has already given you the tools, insight, and direction to live the life you were truly meant for.
XO
